Shelley Hamilton excels at designing and facilitating collaborations that move coalitions from talk to action. She has a proven track record of using visual communication tools working inside, outside and between organizations. As former CEO of MarinSpace, Shelley brings 15 years of practical nonprofit management experience to her consulting work. As a researcher and project consultant, Shelley has worked in a wide variety of fields from social purpose real estate, aging, and information technology, to civic engagement, cross cultural education, and environmental sustainability. Her clients have included United Ways, the Marin Community Foundation, Fort Mason Center, the County of Marin’s Department of Aging and Adult Services, The Thoreau Center for Sustainability, The Agricultural Institute of Marin, the Aging Action Initiative and Marin Promise Partnership’s Cradle to Career Educational Equity Network. Shelley was also an Affiliate Researcher with the Institute for the Future, a founding board member of the Nonprofit Centers Network and a Planning Commissioner for 9 years.
In addition to visual facilitation, Shelley’s adaptive leadership approach weaves together her background in complexity science, natural systems theory, Results-based Accountability (RBA) and cultural anthropology. When she’s not inspiring and supporting collective impact, you’ll find her hiking/running the trails behind her house in Fairfax, CA, paddle boarding the San Francisco Bay or traveling with her family to visit relatives in Mexico.
